Hi! My name is Brent Carlson and I am a designer, illustrator, and user experience designer in North East Ohio. I have many interests from designing, illustrating and storytelling to hiking, being outdoors and CrossFit! I think everyone has a unique perspective and story to tell and I love to express mine, especially through my work. I am always up for trying new things and solving problems in different ways. I love a challenge and am always looking to expand my knowledge and skill set! 

DESIGN & ILLUSTRATION

I enjoy traditional media as well as digital to utilize in my designs. I have been featured in the Akron Beacon Journal’s enjoy section as well as recognized with a silver Addy from the Akron Advertising Federation for my illustrations. This site has more of my finished pieces but I am always trying to work and learn doing new things on the side. USER EXPERIENCE DESIGN

I earned my Master’s degree from Kent State University in User Experience Design and truly loved the program. It focused on real world application and was heavily project based, giving me lots of in the field experience that I found invaluable. We spent time conducting user interviews, running a variety of user testing both in person and at a distance, creating complex knowledge organizational systems and taxonomies, and running usability studies. I love the challenge that user experience design presents. It has made me realize other people’s perspectives and never to assume anything. You can learn so much from simply asking questions and truly listening.
